About Chionin Temple

Chionin Temple

Chionin is a temple with a very large Sanmon and Mikagedo of Jodo head in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto. Chionin officially called the Kachozan Chionkyoin Otani Temple, and at the foot there is a Kacho junior college. The founder of this temple is Honen, and this is a temple built in the land where Honen who is the Jodo sect founder spent the second half of the life.

Chionin is a temple with a strong religious color that is active as active as Jodo headquarters rather than a temple for tourists who is common in Kyoto.

Currently, the largest Mieido has been undergoing renovation for eight years from 2012. No admission fee is required. I have never seen it, but there seems to be a hojyo garden for pay admission.

Ishibekoji Alley, it is where you went a little south of the Gionyasaka shrine. The entrance is so small that it is not noticeable. It is in a place that is really hard to find.
