Good morning!
This is Kurama Tengu. ( ̄― ̄)b
For those of you who live in the Kyoto area, do you often see the debate of where is Kyoto and where is not Kyoto?
There are quite a few people, especially those living in Kamigyo, Nakagyo, and Shimogyo districts of Kyoto City, who say that only the old Rakunai is the real Kyoto.
Kurama Tengu’s residence is a bit outside of that frame of reference, so technically speaking, I may be a fake Kyoto person. (Actually, I don’t live in Kurama.)
For your reference, I have included a diagram of the Godoi on display at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.
Here you can see the exact location of Rakuchu and Rakugai.
However, due to the development since the Meiji era, some consider Kyoto to be Kitaoji Street in the north, Nishioji Street in the west, Higashioji Street in the east, and Kujo Street in the south.
I think there are some Kyoto City people who deplore saying “Then am I not Kyoto person!?”
In fact, as the sense of Kurama Tengu, I believe that those who live in Kyoto City, the Konan area of Shiga Prefecture, Uji City, Nagaokakyo City, Muko City, Yawata City, and the surrounding areas within commuting distance of Kyoto City are Kyoto people.
The spoken language is almost the same, and the culture is almost the same.
I think people in Osaka are a little different…
Their tone of voice is a little different, they put a punchline to their stories, and they like to eat out.
