Do you know the meaning of “Anjou”?
It’s a word relatively old people use, and “Anjou” is the meaning that please keep well and do well.

[Example]
Kyoto dialect: “Anjou yattoite tanonnmasuwa.”
Standard Japanese: “Do it well, I ask you.”

Kyoto dialect: “Anjou yoroshuuni yutoite okureyasu.”
Standard Japanese: “Please give my best regards.”

Although it’s a recent expression, it’s the same meaning as “Do it nice” or “Please say it in a good way.”

According to the Japanese dictionary, Anjou is said to have changed from “ajiyoku” to “ajiyou” to “Anjou”.

My father and my grandfather are from Kyoto, and they use “anjou” often. Few people in ages of Kurama Tengu use this word. It is commonplace in the world of classical rakugo though.
