Kyoto Cinema – The true Pinokio –

Have you felt bored about the movies you saw in the theater recently? TOHO Cinemas, Movix Kyoto, T-Joy, or whatever cinema complex is showing the movie, I somehow don’t feel like seeing it. Sometime do you feel like this?? There is a movie theater I recommend to such you.

This is…Kyoto Cinema!!

Now, cinema complex has become dominant (no, now is an era of Net Flex and so on?) A time when small movie theaters, such as the Meiga-za, are disappearing rapidly. However, even such now, there are many smaller places that show good films, for example, Kyoto Minami Kaikan (Minami district, Kujo), Uplink Kyoto (Karasuma-Oike). Today, I’d like to introduce Kyoto Cinema among them. There are many attractive new movies being screened that are not easily seen in large movie theaters even there, Kyoto Cinema. All of these films are both good and free from commercialism.

I have been to there several times, but there are quite a few customers, as many as at a cinema complex. And the age-range is also wide. Just looking at this makes us feel that such movie theaters are still needed and there are good films screened by the more in such place.

And I visited the Kyoto cinema this week again. It is located on the third floor of a building called COCON KARASUMA, just off Exit 2 of the Shijo Subway Station.

“The true Pinokio”

It turned over the image of children literature known as Disney animation, boldly, the unprecedented nature of the work and the devilish worldview were turned into a live-action movie. The dark fantasy that invites viewers to the abyss of the fable.

I already knew somehow that that Pinokio was actually an astoundingly dark story. So I went to see the movie as I had an interest about what the story really was. The feeling was… that it is no doubt that the image of Disney animation would be destroyed completely anyway.

Old Geppetto who are gentle and calm in Disney animation looked like a poor beggar, Pinokio was a bad child who was not disobedient, and that talkative cricket Zinnies looked like a grotesque-looking monster. At the beginning, a nightmare feeling was already floated around.

However, such thing was still in a few steps from the starting point. Further nightmare story was waiting for them. Be prepared. In such situation, there was surprisingly despicable scenes prepared. Oh, how vulgar it was. (However, strangely, I was not offended, I was just stunned. Hey, hey how despicable they were. (Smile.) I might not be able to meet such a movie like this so often. Well, through the trip in the nightmare world, what Pinokio would be like?
