Origin of Shishin

The word root of Shishin “four gods” is the holy beasts “four god beasts” that guard the four directions in the world and also appear in Chinese mythology.
They are east blue dragon, southern suzaku, white tiger in the west, northern genbu, and is correspond with rivers, seas, roads, mountains each.
The place where these four beasts become complete is defined as ideal terrain arrangement in Feng shui, and is called to be suitable for the four gods.

Heiankyo that is the prototype of Kyoto City where our general incorporated association Shishin is located, is applicable to this being suitable for four gods, as there are rivers (Kamo river, Takano River, Kamo river) in the east, Oguraike in the south, a big road (Suzaku Street, which is current Senbon street) in the west, and many mountains (northern hill) in the north.
