～yasu・～yoshi

I think you have heard of “yasu”. It is a post positional particle peculiar in Kinki area.
To be honest, few people in my age use “yasu”. However, do you think it is right to be a softer wording than “do” that we learn at school?

Is it only me that “do” in the standard language makes me irritated slightly as I think it commands me to do? Although it is same in the point of command tone, I think “yasu” is softer wording. There is a wording “yosi” as the same light command tone.

The way of my changing them to standard language might be strange (smile).

The wording “yosi” is used against your inferiors or people of same level. If you use “siyosi” against your superiors they get angry. “Shahattara” is the right wording. I also think that some people are so take care of that they use the wording “haru” against even dogs and cats since in Kyoto people take care too much whether they talk to their superiors or their inferiors. Also, the target that they may use “shiyoru” or “shiteketukaru” that contains the feeling of looking down is limited.
