Bakery & Cafe Shinshindo Oike

Hello, everyone. How are you doing every day? I’ll tell you the story a bakery and café I have found.

Shinshin-do Oike Shop

Shinshin-do. I have known this name from a long time ago, but this time I will actually eat there for the first time since I started living in Kyoto City 15 years ago.

What is this shop like? Let’s enter there immediately.

Oh, this is apparently a bakery and self-service café where you can enjoy a quiet atmosphere. There is terrace seating, so on sunny days, you can enjoy your meal while looking out over Oike Street.

There is also a wide variety of bread. You’ll find a wide variety of meal breads, sweet breads, prepared breads and sandwiches. They all look delicious.

From top left: crottine with kujo leeks and bacon, 275-yen, tuna salad bread with green onions, 255 yen. From bottom left: banana and walnut croquant, 255-yen; rye and wholemeal crumbelly, 264-yen; croissant au beurre, 275-yen. And tea 360 yen. Total combined: 1,684 yen.

These are the ones I bought this time, but there are many others.
And you can eat these breads in the café space in the shop.

Oops? Apparently, the shop offers several types of bread, as well as morning and lunch plates that can be ordered. Well, for example, here’s what’s on the menu for lunch.

Minor grains life Nose-nose plate (1,100 yen)

The Minor Grains Life Nose-nose Plate is a very healthy-looking plate. Tuna mustard potatoes, raisin butter and orange cream cheese on toast with unsalted butter, served with carrot rabe, bacon and vegetables. This is of course not the only lunch plate available, but there are many other types of sumptuous lunch plates.

At any rate, the Shishin-do Oike Shop was very good. You can get several sumptuous lunch plates at rather affordable prices and the breads in the shop are delicious. Transport links are also located close to Karasuma-Oike and Kyoto City Hall-mae underground stations. This may be just the right café spot for a walk in the vicinity.
