Yasaka Shrine’s deities Part 27

How are you everyone? I hope you are well. Let’s continue with the story of the descendants of Susanoo-sama, who were born from generation to generation.

Yashima Shinuminokami, the elder of the two deities Ohotoshinokami and Ukanomitamanokami married the daughter of Ooyamatuminokami (the mountain god born between Izanagi and Izanami and the parent god of Kamuooichihime who married Susanoo-sama) whose name was Konohananochiruhime and the name of the god born after marriage was Fuhanomodukunusununokami.

Huwa-no-mo;jikunusunu-no-kami married Okami-no-kami’s daughter, whose name was Hikaha-hime, and the deity they bore was named Hukafuchinomizuyarehana-no-kami.

Hukafuchinomizuyarehana-no-kami married Amenotudohechinenokami, and the name of deity they bore was Omizunu-no-kami, who was identified with the deity Yatukamizuno-kami who became a national leader in the Izumo Kokufudoki).

Omizununokami married Futemiminokami, the daughter of Funozununokami, and the name of the deity they gave birth to is Amenofuyukinokami.

Amenofuyukinokami married Sashikuniwa-hime, daughter of Sashikuniokami, and the name of the deity they bore was Okuninushinokami (as you all know, the deity of Izumo-taisha Shrine, the famous Okuninushi with the large sack on his back, that is Daikoku-sama.)

Okuninushinokami is called Ohonamuzinokami, Ashiharashikoonokami and Yachihokonokami, Utushikunitamanokami in his other names, has five names in total.

The father of Kushiinada-hime is Inadanomiyanushisusanoyatumimi and Yashimazinuminokami is also said Suganomiyamanushiminasanuhikoyashimano. Okuninushi is also said Ohoanamuchinomikoto, that is, Ohoanamuchi.
