Yasaka Shrine’s Gods of Worship Part 6 and Moto Ise-sama’s Gods of Worship Part 3

Amaterasu Omikami told Susanoo when she saw the gods who had been born.

“The five male deities were born out of the five hundred and fifty-five mizumaru balls of the eight-foot-long katadama that I was wearing. Therefore, let them come to me. The three princess-gods were born from the ten-grip sword you were wearing. So let them go to you.”

Then, the five male deities resided in Takamagahara, although Amenohohi later descended to Izumo Taisha, and the three female deities resided at Munakata Taisha in Kyushu.

Amaterasu Omikami, the maiden goddess who governs the heavenly realm, was first born from katadama that was wore by Masakatu Akatukachihayahi Ameno-Oshihonomimi, a pure and virile male deity, but born from the breath of Susanoo-sama , so Susanoo-sama said, “I never thought that I would win.”

However, since Masakatu Akatukachihayahi Ameno-Oshihonomimi was born out of the eight-foot-long katadama that belonged to Amaterasu Omikami, it would have been Amaterasu Omikami who gave birth, or in a reversal, Amaterasu Omikami would have “never thought she would win”.

Susanoo-sama does not want to lose, he wants to win, there is no wicked mind. Then he exclaimed. “Because my heart was pure and just and beautiful, three princess-goddesses were born”. “Therefore, I win this contest of oaths (ukehi)”. “Sister, now you know that my heart is pure, righteous, and bright without evil in my heart”. “This ukehi with my sister has helped me to be clean, right and bright”.
