What I was shocked most this year among I noticed disappeared is, to say the least, the “Ikezen cosmetics shop”.

And, it is the story in Shijo Kawaramachi, I think all Kyoto people know it. As much as that, it was three shops that were in the pocket of Takashimaya same as before.

It created a tremendous sense of incongruity that on the contrary the aging of the Ikezen building stood out more and I was not sure if it was clean or what when Kyoto Takashimaya was renewed and outer wall became beautiful and I looked from the opposite pedestrian crossing, it just created a tremendous sense of discomfort. “That’s weird.” I thought simply. And it has remained that way to the present.

While I was thinking that I might want the products in Takashimaya even if I put my hand out of my throat, I was supporting it secretly feeling it like a long-established store that doesn’t move even with leverage.

In the spring this year, the moment I noticed the shop was changed to current-style contact lens shop going out to Shijo for a long time after, “Oh it’s finally ended!” and “Finally ended”, such feeling run through around my heart, and thought arbitrarily that “it was its last resistance that it didn’t sell the shop to Takashimaya.”

Then when I looked into a little this time to write about it on blog, I found that Ikezen building was as it was and only was rent its space to tenants due to the aging of its President and Ikezen cosmetics shop was relocated to near Teramachi Shijo Kudaru!

Then when I went to see it immediately, I found that the shop had become very clean and SABRINA stockings which were usually near the shop entrance were still there. Unfortunately, the “welcome, welcome” with the low-voice of male person was not there.
Actually, I have bought stockings for work-use several times attracted by it.

I want the shop work hard in the new place competing with drugstores and cosmetics stands near there by any way.

However, another owner’s building coexisting in such a strange way moreover, in front of the face of a long-established department store, in commercial land that is the highest land price in the city, is probably only this shop nationally seeing. (I’m sorry if there is.)

Then, I got to think that it is not strange that it will become more famous spot.

I looked into and found to some extent, why it got to be such land relation. The opening of Ikezen cosmetics shop was Showa 5. Soon after that, Takashimaya which was located in Karasuma Takatuji formerly, bought off the surrounding land and opened its shore there. From the first, it didn’t agree with the buying off.
91 years after that, that building will be repaired from now on.

Speaking of Showa 5, it is a precious and historical building that was built as the almost same period as Minamiza in Gion, former Kyoto central telephone office, now Shinpukan.

I wish that building being preserved clean with the appearance as it was that time to be suitable for new famous spot in Kyoto and if possible, attractive shops that will be loved by people for long enter the building.

With such thought in my mind, I was looking at that strange building vaguely while waiting traffic lights change today as well.
Is it really happy end??
