Due to the influence of new corona virus from last year, the opportunities to go out to the city have decreased dramatically.

I happened to pass through near Shijo Kawaramachi while I commute from a few months ago. Then, I finally notice that there is no, no appearance of street performers who added colors to the city so much!!

I finally realized that the reason I had thought the city had become so cold was not simply because of the decrease in the number of tourists and locals.

Until one and a half year ago, in the short compartment between Shijo Kawaramachi and Gion, every kind of street performers appear at the usual place when the time came, were mixed with the city, and they were natural beings there. When I was doing part-time job in Shijo Kawaramachi, it was natural, so I passed through in front of them feeling secretly that we were working hard each other today as well.

What I recall are the people whom I stop my steps several times, listened to, and threw money to them, for instance, immovable bronze statue that became famous people everybody got to know with its media appearance increased in recent a few years, Mr.Kids, Andean folk songs near Shijo Ohashi (I have always thought that why Andes in Kyoto) a soul percussionist using everything from pots to aluminum cans, astringent and cool Jazz trio middle-age men who appeared on Sunday nights, and so on.
Crouching voice of Mister Nagabuchi in Kiya town whom I was patron of from twenty years or so got to disappear from long time ago even when I passed through there.

I wonder when will they come back. They might move their place of activity to You Tube as they thought they couldn’t do so in this corona pandemic and some of them might have stopped their activities.

However, it is not worthwhile unless I see them in the streets.

When will it be that the city of Kyoto returns to its prosperity in the past? I wish they would come back to their home ground again when the time of prosperity comes back again. I wish they sooth the ears, eyes and heart and entertain people including sightseeing people, shoppers, commuters, and the drunken in Shijo Kawaramachi soon. Of course, I am also expecting new performers with new and amazing techniques.
