Gyuzen Shijo-Karasuma Branch

I went out for beef shabushabu!

There has been shabushabu restaurant called “Shabu-zen” in Gion, and I occasionally have had me brought to there before. However, it has closed while I didn’t notice and I was disappointed, but this Gyu-zen is the same kind of style restaurant and I was hoping to visit there once.

And as I knew that the restaurant had established in Shijo-Karasuma, I invited my friend and went dining.

I’m certainly tempted by the domestic beef but perhaps I’ll start with the ‘Premium Beef Shabu-shabu All-You-Can-Eat’ to see what they’re made of.

It was actually quite tasty!

There were two types of dipping sauce: sesame and ponzu.
The garnishes and vegetables are quite similar to those at ‘Shabu Zen’, aren’t they?

I’d skipped lunch to save room for the all-you-can-eat buffet, so I tucked into the meat with a real appetite!

It was delicious and I was absolutely chuffed.

I wonder if the udon they served to round off the meal was Sanuki udon too – it had a lovely firm texture and was delicious!
Well, I was thoroughly satisfied, but if I had to mention one drawback, it’s that the restaurant is rather cramped, perhaps due to its location in Shijo-Karasuma. There was a group of about 15 people having a party at the next table, and their loud voices meant I could barely hear my friend speaking.

It was as noisy as that.

However, since there were tatami-mat seating areas in the back, it might have been better to reserve one by phone in advance.

The quality of the meat wasn’t exactly “Yum!” either, so next time I might order a higher-grade domestic beef.

Price-wise, we were able to eat our fill – including beer – for 3.850 yen per person this time, so we were very satisfied. Next time, I’d like to try the sukiyaki and enjoy the meat!
