Here I go ~. Mmm… Yum (so good ♪) Extreme! Carry! Look at this curry rice. Isn’t it amazing? This here is a dish called the Extreme Crab Cream Croquette Curry (1,580 yen).
Listen up. This curry is just amazing. What makes it so amazing? Well, first of all, it’s the portion size. Looking at the photo, you can’t see any rice, so it doesn’t look like much. But when you actually sit down to eat it, you realize there’s quite a bit of rice hidden under the curry sauce.
Not only that. The cheese has melted right into the curry sauce, and that just… OH.
And sitting atop it all is the crab cream croquette, whose creamy richness creates an irresistible flavor. The crispy exterior and smooth, creamy filling fill your mouth with every bite. Dip it in the curry sauce and eat it together… and it’s even more… Ah!

It’s truly extreme. You can savor a curry that’s both rich and robust.

Just as I was enjoying this extreme crab cream curry, another delicious dish was brought to the table. Here it is.

What do you think? This is Nicoise-style salad with tuna, potatoes, and carrot slaw (990 yen). Even though it’s the small size, this salad is actually quite hearty. Lettuce, tuna, eggs, carrots, potatoes, and tomatoes. All of these vegetables are piled high on a fairly large plate. I thought this one dish alone might be enough to fill me up. Actually, it really did fill me up.

The crispy vegetables are complemented by the satisfying richness of eggs and tuna, and the small diced potatoes really fill you up. This is a real treat for vegetable lovers. I wonder what a large salad would be like. Maybe I’ll order one next time.

And so on – there are plenty of hearty dishes to choose from.
Café Madrague has its main branch in Nakagyo Ward and operates five locations in the Kansai region (Café Gabor at Sanjo Keihan, the Fujii Daimaru branch, the Kobe Daimaru branch, and the Daimaru Suma branch). All of them are very popular, and it seems this Fujii Daimaru branch is quite popular as well.
I arrived around 2:00 p.m., but even then, there was quite a line of people waiting. Still, it was definitely worth the wait. I’d wait in line just to eat here.” I’d wait in line just to spend time here! – that’s exactly what this means. Thanks to it, I had a truly satisfying time.

Incidentally, the name “Madrague” is said to come from the name of a villa in southern France that belonged to the French actress Brigitte Bardot (apparently, the owner of the Madrague Main Store, Yamasaki Sanshiro Hirotaka, chose the name because his wife was a fan of hers).
