How are you, everyone? This is the defeated soldier. This is the final episode. Let’s continue to story of what will finally happen to Susanoo-sama.

The first time Itakeru no Kami, son of Susanoo-sama, descended from Takamagahara, he brought with him many seeds of trees. However, the tree seeds were not planted in Korea (Karakuni) and were all taken back home. Finally, starting from Tukushi (Tukushi*, which is said to be today’s Kyushu), he sowed and planted all seeds within the Land of Oyashimanokuni (the mainland of Japan, which I interpret here as all the islands of the archipelago), and there was no place in Japan that did not become the Aoyama Mountains.)

This is why Itakeru no Mikoto was regarded as a god of merit (isashi* which made achievements). In short, it is the great deity who is Kii no kuni* which is said to be one part of present Wakayama and Mie Prefecture. (Here, Itakeru no kami, the child of Susanoo-sama, is referred to as the ‘great god’.)

Susanoo-sama said. “There are many precious treasures on the island of Korea (Karakuni). “If there is no ship to cross over to the land where my son reigns, it is not good” he said.

Then he pulled out his beard and scattered it. It immediately became a cedar tree. Also, the hairs on the chest were pulled out and spread out. This became cypress. The hairs on his buttocks became a maquis tree. The hairs of the eyebrows became camphor trees. Then he decided how to use the trees.

Susanoo-sama told us: “Two trees, cedar and camphor, should be used as materials for building ships. Cypress should be used as a material for building palaces. Maquis should be prepared to be used as coffins to send people to the afterlife.

The deities, Itakeru no Mikoto, son of Susanoo-sama, and his sisters Oyatuhime no Mikoto and Tumatuhime no Mikoto sowed the seeds of trees well. Then they entered the Land of Kii.

In this way, Susanoo no Mikoto stayed at Kumanari no Mine and finally entered the Land of Ne.

(This is how we are able to live our lives according to what our ancestors left us at the end. We are of one mind, and we will pass it on from generation to generation.)

(End) Thank you for reading for so long. This is the end of the story of Shintoism. Thank you very much.
