Part 2: That’s why we’ll live, in the middle of these times.
Enshrined in the desolate capital of Kyoto and facing each other in a vivid manner, there are male and female deities with phallic and female genitalia carved into them.
People, the capital is sick. In the middle of desolate times, they suffer and moan and cry in the dark night. Many people are still suffering on the streets in the capital as lost children without a tomorrow.
Even that…
“What, then, are the aristocrats and emperors doing in government? Isn’t it the duty of those who rule the country to do something about these situations?
When I put the question to Kuya-sama, who was then working with his good friend Rensei-sama, Kuya-sama gave me a bitter look and spoke.
“No, it’s not like the nobles and the emperors are doing nothing about the situation.”
“And by that you mean?”
“Nobles and emperors tentatively also often carry out relief work called shingo.”
“Shingo?”
“Yes, shingo. The word is written as make a relief. It means to give rice, salt, cloth, cotton, etc. from the national treasury or one’s own reserves to the poor, orphans and the sick…”, Kuya-sama ponders.
“But that is originally what an emperor who rules a country does to demonstrate his virtue.”
“What does it mean to demonstrate virtue?”
“In other words, as rulers of the land, they will show the people the noble deeds that will bring them grace and blessing.”
“The noble deeds?”
“Yes. As a benevolent ruler, he provides food and other necessities to a people who are poor and therefore groaning in the world of suffering. The practice of shingo may be said to be an act of a ruling aristocrat or emperor sincerely reaching out to the poor out of concern for the people. It is as if a mother and a father see their child in pain and extend a hand of compassion to him or her. And the people who are touched by the mercy and grace of the nobility and the emperor are dominated by the monarch, the emperor.”

“Well then… however.”
“But?”
“Oh, even if such virtues are shown in this day and age, isn’t that no longer enough?”
“I agree. Unfortunately, you may be right, oh, Rensei?”
Suddenly, Rensei-sama, the good friend of Kuya-sama who was asked a question by him, answered.
“Well, in the current capital, a diverse range of people, both aristocrats and commoners, are actively engaged in various activities across the strata of society, but on the other hand, the number of poor people is increasing with each passing day, fires and floods are occurring one after another, and the city is rampant with terrifying grudge spirits that bring plague and other diseases.”
Ceaseless uneasiness and fear, and in a situation bordering with it, people are now longing for liberation from these anxieties.
“Under these circumstances, there may be limits to what nobles and emperors may be able to show in terms of virtue. It is also true that giving rice, salt, etc. as alms to the poor and sick is not enough.”
“For this reason, it is all the more”
Kuya-sama said after breathing once.
That is why we, who are in the lower strata of society, are going to reconnect people who have been cut off by pain and suffering.
With the teaching of the Amitabha Nembutu as a golden rope.
“Tatumi”
and now Rensei-sama said this, as if speaking quietly to me.
As you are, we will always have things to do from our standpoint, things we can do from our standpoint.
We will just go on doing that. Because we live in such times.
“The second movement is complete.”
