Long time no sees.
This is Kurama Tengu.
When it comes to Gyoza no Osho, it is a very familiar food establishment for me since I was a child.
My father loved Osho, and I used to go to eat there with him.

Gyoza no Osho Shijo-Omiya Flagship Store
This location in Shijo-Omiya is apparently the flagship store for the entire Osho chain, which has branches across the country. I remember the company president of mine bringing me here in the past, but this time I decided to come in on my own.
For my first solo visit, I ordered the Tenshin-han (crab omelet over rice) and two servings of pan-fried gyoza. I feel like that’s all I have eaten here.

Tenshin-han and two servings of gyoza.
見As you can see, the Tenshin-han and gyoza look larger.
Middle-size of them may be too large for female diners.
The gyoza really are delicious!
On the second visit, I ordered the stir-fried garlic chives and liver.

Stir-fried Garlic Chives and Liver
For me, there are hits and misses when it comes to stir-fried garlic chives and liver: a “hit” is one packed with plenty of liver, while a “miss” has hardly any. The version here has lots of liver, so it’s definitely a hit!
Beyond the great taste of the liver itself, the garlic chives and bean sprouts were wonderfully crisp – it was absolutely delicious!
And for my third visit, I had the Chuka-don (Chinese-style rice bowl).
It’s a staple of the classic neighborhood Chinese diner!

It has a light, refreshing flavor.
But it was packed with chunky ingredients – like shrimps and wood ear mushrooms – and was delicious!
The reason I always end up ordering two servings of gyoza is that I have a coupon where you get one serving free if you order two…
Most of the customers inside are men.
Certainly, the standard size is actually quite large, so it might well be geared towards men.
My impressions after visiting a few times.
As expected of the main branch, the flavor felt consistently reliable.
The staff there are friendly too, so I think it’s definitely worth making this a regular spot.
There’s just something about Osho’s gyoza and Ten-Ichi’s Kotteri (rich) ramen that makes you crave them every now and then!
A classic Kyoto thing. (^ω^)
