Long time no sees.
This is Kurama Tengu^^
I’d like to write an article about gourmet today.
I went to “James Kitchen,” a hamburger steak restaurant located a little way up from Hyakumanben Crossing. This restaurant seems to be frequented by many Kyoto University students, given its location.

The photo didn’t turn out well, but here’s the hamburger steak menu. This time I chose two S sizes. It’s 1,200 yen. I had a 100-yen discount coupon from my last visit, so it was 1,100 yen. It seems you get a 100-yen coupon every time you dine here, which you can use next time.
↓There was also a 100-yen discount coupon on Tabelog.

Choosing from ten different sauces is quite a dilemma, but since I picked tomato sauce last time and found the light flavor lacking, this time I opted for the classic demi-glace sauce.
I thought the restaurant entrance was on the first floor, but they were making bento boxes downstairs, so I climbed the narrow stairs to the second floor. Opening the door upstairs, I found Southeast Asian staff members inside.
I bought a meal ticket at the vending machine and was directed to a long table.
Most customers seemed like college students, and there were quite a few who appeared to be female students. The students were chatting happily at the tables.
After waiting a while, this was what was brought out!

Two small hamburger steaks with demi-glace sauce.
Free large or extra-large rice portion available. (Large portion this time)
By the way, I’ll also include a photo of the tomato sauce hamburger steak I ordered during my last visit.

The Hamburger Steak with Tomato Sauce
The hamburger sauce has a rich flavor, while tomato sauce is lighter. Next time, I’d like to try the “garlic butter” sauce.
The hamburger steak never disappoints with its delicious flavor, and paired with a large serving of rice and fries, it definitely fills you up. I thought it was a portion size college students would love. I eat quite a lot myself, so I’m very satisfied.
When you order a large serving of rice, you’ll likely finish the hamburger steak before the rice, leaving you with just the rice. But don’t worry – there’s an all-you-can-eat selection of shibazuke and Sakura-zuke pickles on the table, so you’ll always have something to go with your rice.
Overall, it’s a place that feels like a hamburger steak dining place.
If you go expecting the interior of a stylish café-like establishment, you might find it a bit lacking.
The area from Tanaka in Sakyo Ward to the Hyakumanben area has many restaurants offering great value for money, so I thought it would be fun to try eating at various places.
