About Maruyama Park

Maruyama Park

If you go to the back of Gion Yasaka Shrine, there is Maruyama park. The Maruyama park is adjacent to the Yasaka Shrine, Kodai Temple and Chion Temple, and it would be fun to look around together.

Maruyama park is famous for its huge cherry in the garden. When it becomes the season of cherry blossoms in spring, it is very crowded with visitors from other prefectures including Kyoto prefecture. It may be a tourist destination with many visitors to the cherry blossoms in Kyoto City. Maruyama park is a place where cherry blossoms bloom early in Kyoto city.

The park has a lot of street vendors and a red sheet space to see the cherry blossoms as seen in the photos. (There is a charge.) You can also have a cherry blossom feast in the park, but you need to take a place in advance. At the peak of the cherry blossom season, the park is packed with plastic picnic sheet, so it is necessary to secure a place in the early hours.(free of charge) However, the manners of the place taking in recent years are regarded as a problem.
